Species Tarantulas
Tarantulas are a group of around 820 species of spiders that are large, with big fangs, and generally hairy
Distribution Around the world, found on every continent except Antarctica
Habitat A few inhabits semi-desert regions. Most exist in tropical rainforest
Size Leg spans up to 12 inches
Diet Insectivorous -
Most tarantulas feeds on insects and other invertebrates. Larger species could prey on vertebrates including rodents, bats, frogs, lizards, snakes, and small birds.
Lifestyles Most tarantulas adopt one of three life styles thus:
1. Arboreal
- living in trees
2. Terrestrial
- living on land
3. Burrower
- living underground
