Fun Facts Named bearded dragons because of their "beard", an expandable throat pouch with spikey scales. When threatened or excited, males will blow up their throat and turn it black.

 

 
Bearded dragon is a kind of agamid lizards (family Agamidae)
 
When threatened, they will show their big black "beard" and try to scare you off. They can be aggressive to other lizards but not to people.
 

Not many lizards are social like Bearded dragons.
