Toni Ip is one of the few herpetologists in Hong Kong. He is young but already has 20 years of experience in studying/working with reptiles and other wild animals in rainforests, deserts and mountains around South America, Africa and Inland Australia.
Recently he is focusing in species of SE Asia including Borneo, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. In one of his trips, he was invited to be a host of a series of TVB Wildlife Documentary - Mt. Kinabalu, leading the crew deep into the Borneo rainforests and was the host of the series of wildlife documentary chasing rhinos, being chased by wild elephants, catching hugh monitor lizards, handling venomous snakes, having found unrecognized species of spiders...
On the other hand, he is also a herpetoculturist (professional reptile breeder). He has been living with reptiles since he was 7. Throughout the years, he has successfully bred many endangered reptiles through his captive breeding programs. Many of the animals you will meet are bred by Toni Ip - He also has their dads and moms!
Not only working with himself and the animals, Toni Ip is also active in the community promoting reptiles. He is the sole founder of the Hong Kong Reptile & Amphibian Society. |
